Consortium

The project consortium brings together the state-of-the-art expertise and capacity for developing and promoting new approaches for Smart Pharmaceutical MaNufacturIng in order to support the Pharmaceutical industry. It combines partners with decade-long experiences in computerised production systems in representative pharma environments and data integrity. The consortium is composed by industrial and academic institutes from Greece, Ireland, Spain, and Italy.

PQE is a global consultancy firm founded in 1998 with headquarters in Italy. PQE offers Quality and Compliance solutions in the field of Data Integrity Compliance, Medical Device and Quality Management in Life Sciences. PQE has successfully participated in several Italian funded and European Research projects providing expertise in system validation, quality assurance, medical device certification and project management in academic and industrial environments.

FAREVA was founded in 1990 in France, and is one of the world’s leading subcontractors in the Industrial & Household, Cosmetics and Pharmaceuticals fields. Istituto De Angeli (IDA) is a state of the art pharmaceutical facility located near Florence ITALY, subsidiary of FAREVA. IDA  produces cost competitive medicaments for the patients all over the world using scientific and high-tech know-how and state of the art IT technologies. The facility and its processes have been audited and approved by international pharmaceutical agencies including the EU, USA, Russia, Bielorussia, Brazil, and Turkey.

NCI is a third-level education college in Dublin. The NCI Cloud Competency Centre staff have actively participated in significant EC-funded endeavours such as HealthAgents on decision support systems for automatic diagnosis and prognosis of brain tumours; ParaPhrase on parallel patterns for heterogeneous multicore systems; cHiPSet on high-performance modelling and simulation for big data applications; and CRoNoS on computationally-intensive methods for the robust analysis of non-standard data.

The main mission of the University of Thessaly is the promotion of scientific knowledge through research and the contribution to the cultural and economic development of the local community and wider society. It is known for its excellent research performance and outstanding scientific achievements, in accordance with the international standards. The excellent equipped Laboratories of the different Departments and Research Units have a number of well-trained researchers to support them.

As part of its future goals, University of Thessaly intends to strengthen its cooperation’s abroad, increase its human resources, upgrade and utilize existing human resources, attract young scientists and encourage research through the creation of modern research structures, increase infrastructure and utilize its assets and funds from the EU with the research programmes Horizon 2020, RFSR, FP6, FP7, INTERREG and LIFE. The members of the academic and research staff participate in European research networks and numerous innovative research projects in the EC. Today the University of Thessaly has 39.000 undergraduate students, about 3000 postgraduate students and about 1000 PhD students. It also has 610 members of teaching and research staff, 120 members of teaching staff with a temporary teaching contract, 450 members of administrative staff and 100 members of Special Technical Laboratory Staff.

UPV holds the Biomedical Data Science Lab (BDSLab) with more than 15 years of experience. The lab has worldclass expertise on biomedical data mining, decision support, medical imaging, intelligent and emotional multi-agent systems, as well as biomedical information engineering. Some BDSLab EU projects are eTUMOUR on pattern recognition techniques, HealthAgents on decision support systems for automatic diagnosis and prognosis of brain tumours, Hel4Mood on emotional multi-agent systems and humancomputer.
